SKELETON LAKE – Residents who live near the intersection of Highway 63 and Range Road 654 may hear some loud roaring sounds over the next week thanks to some routine maintenance work from TC Energy.

Starting May 9, the company will be conducting a blowdown periodically for seven days at their facility just northeast of Skeleton Lake. Residents may hear loud noises between 6 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. over the course of the maintenance, although specialized equipment will be used to reduce the noise where possible.

A blowdown is the act of releasing natural gas from a pressurized system — in this case a pipeline — to allow work to occur in the now depressurized facility.

Residents living in close proximity to the location will receive notices of the work prior to it beginning.
