RED DEER, Alta. — The Seattle Thunderbirds have served early notice that they plan to contend this season.

Gracyn Sawchyn scored twice as the visiting Thunderbirds rolled over the Red Deer Rebels 5-2 in Western Hockey League action on Tuesday night.

It was the T-Birds' seventh win in eight starts.

Bryce Pickford, Antonio Martorana and Coster Dunn also scored for the Thunderbirds, who were outshot 37-25, but got a great effort from netminder Spencer Michnik.

Carson Birnie and Jhett Larson scored for the Rebels (4-6-0-1).
