State of local emergency cancelled by MD of Bonnyville

On Wednesday morning, the Municipal District of Bonnyville cancelled a state of local emergency and localized evacuation alert that had been in place since the afternoon of April 23.

"Currently, there is no danger to the public," states the updated notice from the MD of Bonnyville.

The state of local emergency had been put in place due to a wildfire burning on Cold Lake First Nations, near the MD of Bonnyville. 

Late on April 24, a notice from Cold Lake First Nations stated a flair up from the previous wildfire was causing a lot of smoke in the area and crews were on scene but the hot spot was being contained.

Several residents had been evacuated from the area of Cold Lake First Nations on Monday, April 22, but have since been allowed to return home as the fire was contained.
