Single case of COVID-19 identified in Woodlands County

A single case of COVID-19 was identified within Woodlands County on April 29. Woodlands County is located northwest of the County of Barrhead and encompasses the Town of Whitecourt and a number of smaller communities, including the hamlet of Fort Assiniboine.

Alberta Health Services (AHS) has identified one active case of COVID-19 within Woodlands County, which is located northwest of the County of Barrhead.

This new active case was added to the interactive map listed at Alberta’s COVID-19 information page on April 29.

The County of Barrhead and Westlock County are still listed on the map as having two recovered cases of COVID-19. Athabasca County has two active cases, which were identified a week ago.

Lac Ste. Anne County, which is directly south of Woodlands, is also listed as having four cases of COVID-19 — two active and two recovered.

As of 4:30 p.m. on April 30, Alberta is listed as having a total of 5,355 cases of COVID 19. A total of 89 people have died from the virus — one death that was previously identified as being related to COVID-19 has now been determined to be unrelated.

The majority of cases are located within the Calgary Zone, but there are 205 cases within the North Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS), which covers the entire readership area of the Town & Country Today.

A total of 148,937 people have been tested for the virus. Of the confirmed cases, 2161 have recovered.
