About the Role:
As the Finance and Executive Assistant, you will play a key leadership role in supporting the CAO and overseeing the financial and administrative functions of the municipality. You’ll be instrumental in strategic planning, policy development, and guiding operational efficiency. This is a hands-on, cross-functional position that collaborates across all departments to ensure sound governance, financial integrity, and forward-thinking municipal leadership.
Key Responsibilities Include:
• Supporting the CAO with daily administrative and operational oversight
• Managing municipal finance functions including budgeting, reporting, grant administration, and financial compliance • Overseeing revenue collection, expenditures, and record-keeping
• Contributing to strategic initiatives, policy development, and performance improvement
• Collaborating with the Westlock Regional Water Services Commission and other stakeholders
• Participating in or leading projects across legislative services, utilities, transportation, parks, economic development, and more
What We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate brings a blend of financial expertise, administrative leadership, and community-minded thinking. We’re looking for someone who is ready to grow with us, contribute across multiple areas, and help drive the Village’s success.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Training in business or public administration, finance, or leadership
• Knowledge of the Municipal Government Act and relevant provincial legislation
• Proven experience in municipal finance, policy, and governance
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proficiency in financial and office management software
• Ability to manage competing priorities with tact, integrity, and professionalism
