Calgary police homicide unit investigating fatal altercation

CALGARY — The Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit is investigating a fatal altercation in the community of Penbrooke Meadows.

Police say they got a call Sunday around 10 p.m. about a man in medical distress.

They say officers found a man who emergency services personnel later pronounced dead at the scene.

After speaking with witnesses, investigators said they believe the man was assaulted in a parking lot outside a 7-Eleven.

Police said it's too early to determine a motive for the assault and that investigators will canvas the area for possible surveillance camera as they search for a suspect.

An autopsy is scheduled for later today.
