Suspect injured in officer-involved shooting Friday night in southeast Calgary

CALGARY — Alberta's police watchdog is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Calgary's Radisson Heights neighbourhood that sent a man to hospital.

Police were called to the 1500 block of 35 Street S.E. at about 10 p.m. Friday for a call about an armed man acting erratically.

The Calgary police force says their officers found the suspect soon after arriving at the scene, but say "rapidly changing dynamics" resulted in one of the officers discharging their weapon.

The man was taken to hospital in critical but stable condition.

No officers were injured.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team has invoked their mandate, and is investigating.
