COCHRANE, Alta — RCMP are investigating a serious motor vehicle collision between a dump truck and a car that occurred on Highway 1A at Centre Ave earlier this afternoon.
The truck was believed to be heading westbound, coming down the Highway 1A hill, when it struck the car. Broken concrete barricades can also be seen at the site of the crash.
The drivers of both vehicles have been transported to hospital with serious injuries, according to RCMP.
Motorists can expect significant traffic delays as the eastbound land of Highway 1A between Centre Ave. and 2 Ave. is currently impassable.
Mounties are advising people to avoid the area if possible and an update will be provided when the road is cleared.
