If you missed the 2011 Athabasca Parade, you may be the only one.

The streets of the town were packed with onlookers for the event on July 2. The goal was to have 100 floats in recognition of the centennial, but that goal was blown out of the water as roughly 130 floats took part.

“It was awesome. Everybody stepped up,” said Cameron Bissell, parade marshal. “The streets were plugged. I’ve never seen so many people in town. And the weatherman played a big part too.”

Bissell was grateful to the countless people who volunteered their time to make the event special.

“I don’t know where to start for thanking everybody. There was a lot of effort from everybody that participated. Everybody just went above and beyond,” he said.

The result was a parade that everyone enjoyed.
