The Athabasca Healthcare Centre will be without an on site physician in its emergency department (ED) for much of the weekend, as well as next Saturday.

From 6 p.m. Aug. 16 to 6 a.m. Aug. 18 the Athabasca ED will be without a doctor, although nursing staff will remain on-site providing triage, assessments, and referrals for patients to alternate emergency departments in surrounding communities as needed.

EMS will remain available in the community and patients are still asked to call 911 if a medical emergency arises.

The disruption may be cancelled if coverage is found in time. For updates on service disruptions, click here.
