ATHABASCA – Athabasca RCMP are looking for the owner of a stolen skate sharpener that was recovered after a Feb. 22 search warrant was executed in the area of 45th Avenue.
According to a March 29 RCMP news release, following a Feb. 21 call for an assault and theft within Athabasca County, detachment members identified a male suspect, as well as a property that he was associated with and they obtained a search warrant, which was executed the following day.
During the search, RCMP officers recovered various stolen items, including a new electric bike, and a skate sharpener that is estimated to be worth $2,000. According to the news release, local police were able to reunite most of the property with the rightful owners, although Const. Kyle Hotchkiss confirmed in a March 29 e-mail that the skate sharpener had yet to be returned.
If anyone believes that the sharpener belongs to them, the RCMP will require proof of ownership, or a detailed description like make, model, serial number and the colours — the detachment can be reached at 780-675-5122, or in person Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
