Signs in the village of Boyle show the reduced hours at the local healthcare centre. AHS advised that the emergency department won't have a doctor available at the centre between 5 pm and 8pm tonight.

BOYLE -  The Boyle Healthcare Centre’s emergency department (ED) will be without physician coverage between 5 and 8 p.m. Wednesday May 29.

Patients who present to the ED during the three-hour stretch will be triaged and assessed by registered nurses and referred to alternate emergency departments, including those in Athabasca and Lac La Biche.

The ED continues to be closed nightly between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m.

Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency. EMS will remain available to the community and will work with the local healthcare centre to ensure residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need.

Residents are reminded to call Health Link at 811, which is available 24/7 for non-emergency health-related questions.
