The Village of Boyle has issued an evacuation order as the southern wildfire continues to grow

The Village of Boyle has issued an evacuation order for all village residents, as well as everyone east of Range Road 195 to 193, and south of Township Road 650, which runs through the village.

Evacuees are asked to travel north along Highways 63 and 55 towards Lac La Biche to a reception centre at Parkland Motels (10710 101 Avenue). Buses are staged at the Boyle Hockey Rink to go to the reception centre.

If you need assistance reaching the buses, please call the Village of Boyle at 780-689-3643.

The Co-Op gas station is open if vehicles need emergency fuel. Residents are advised to bring any pets, and prepare to be away from home for at least 72 hours.

Currently the fire, which started south of the Boyle Fish Pond, is one mile south of the village, with winds blowing the fire north towards the municipality.

More to come.
