BREAKING: Evacuation alert issued for Boyle

Village residents should prepare for potential emergency evacuation

Locals and travellers are being asked to avoid Highway 831 south of Boyle between the fish pond and the Ellscott turnoff.

BOYLE — Boyle residents are being asked to prepare for a potential evacuation as a wildfire south of the village along Highway 831 continues to burn, posing risk to properties within the village limits. 

Residents of the village are advised to locate or pack 72-hour kits for all individuals in the household, including clothing and supplies, gather essential items like medications, valuable paperwork, and necessities to care for any dependants.

Locals are also asked to contact family members, friends, and vulnerable neighbours and determine meeting locations outside of the evacuation zone if departure is necessary. 

Boyle Fire Department continues to respond to a wildfire south of the village along Highway 831 between the Boyle fish pond and the Ellscott turnoff. 

At 3:39 p.m., the Village of Boyle issued a critical alert notifying locals of the fire, and asking travellers and residents of the area avoid the location while crews work to manage the blaze. 

Locals are also asked to check on family and friends and vulnerable neighbours in the area, keep all doors and windows closed, avoid time spent outdoors in smoky air, and stay tuned to Alertable and TownandCountryToday.com for more updates. 

An evacuation alert for Thorhild County residents living between Range Roads 203-211 and Township Roads 580-584 have also been placed. No evacuation is called for yet, but residents have been asked to prepare for a potential departure.
