BREAKING: RCMP ask Calling Lake residents to shelter in place

The RCMP are asking Calling Lake residents to shelter in place while they search for armed individuals on ATVs.

The Athabasca RCMP are advising residents of Calling Lake to shelter in place while they attempt to locate armed suspects on ATVs.

According to a press release issued at 1:15 p.m., the RCMP responded to reports of individuals driving around on ATVs with firearms. After initially responding and locating the individuals, the armed suspects fled. While the Mounties search for the individuals, they're asking the public to shelter in place.

Residents are advised to remain in their homes and not to open the door to strangers. Should anyone notice any suspicious activity, they're asked to call the RCMP and avoid confronting or approaching the individuals.

The RCMP also ask the public to avoid posting anything regarding the police response to social media until the incident has been resolved. 

An update is expected once more information is available, or once the situation changes.
