BREAKING: Severe Thunderstorm warning in effect from Athabasca to Westlock

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Athabasca, Westlock, and Thorhild County.

Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the communities north of Edmonton as weather conditions become favourable for the development of severe storms.

Athabasca and Westlock County are both under the warning, which stretches to Thorhild and Elk Island Park on the east side. 

Strong winds have developed in the region, with gusts over 120 kilometres an hour, and the storm is expected to produce damaging hail, wind, or rain.

Environment Canada warns residents to take immediate cover if the storm approaches.
