The first annual Athabasca Wellness Fair and trade show was a big success.

“It was a fabulous day,” said Nichole Collins, with Athabasca University. “We had over 80 vendors, 35 presentations, the whole Multiplex was full, and it was steady all day with patrons.”

Collins estimates that a few hundred people came and went, and now that people have an idea what the event was about, they will do it again next year.

“Now that it’s been out there to see what wellness is and what we have to offer in the community, we’ll make it bigger and better for next year,” she said.

There was a little of everything at the event.

“We had everything from overall tradeshow to all avenues of wellness,” said Collins. “From Alberta Health to reiki to mental health to life coaching – there was the whole gamut.”

Collins said the highlight for her was the breakfast.

“It was great to have the Lions Club come, they did a fabulous job, and the whole lounge was full of food.”

The event was popular with families, Collins explained.

“We had the Balloon Fairies come from Edmonton, and lots of face painting, craft tables, movies, and I know families were saying it was a good family day,” she said.
