The Alberta Energy Corridor (AEC) has a new executive director; Jeri Romaniuk.
The AEC is an agency that is funded by industry and government to help economic development in the Athabasca, Boyle, and Wandering River area.
Romaniuk said that she is excited to be in the role, and has high hopes for the area.
“I’m really happy to be working in the area,” she said. “I have found that the communities are really warm and they have been exciting to get to know. I’m looking forward to being here.”
The executive director organizes memberships, the board and business plans, as well as the finances.
“I really want to take the Alberta Energy Corridor to the next phase and really work at our marketing to promote AEC as best we can to make sure that it’s producing sustainable communities and long-term employment in the area,” she said.
”I am thrilled to join the Alberta Energy Corridor as the executive director and look forward to encouraging industry development, diversification and sustainable employment to the area.”
Romaniuk originates from the Edmonton area. “I worked for the Alberta Government there, and I played a few senior roles, but most recently for the Minister of Transportation,” she said. “It’s a new position for me, but I couldn’t ask for a more welcoming area.”
The AEC views Romaniuk as a well-rounded individual who will thrive in her new role.
“Ms. Romaniuk brings with her experience in a number of Government of Alberta departments including her most recent role as executive assistant to the Minister of Transportation,” a press release reads. “She also worked within the ministries of Municipal Affairs, Children’s Services and Aboriginal Affairs, and as the director of research and communication for the government caucus. She holds a bachelors degree in political economy from Concordia University College of Alberta.”
