Village of Boyle voters opted for significant change Monday night, as long-time mayor Bob Clark and deputy mayor Jim Giancola were both defeated.

In their place, Boyle village council adds challengers David Bencharsky and Roger Hall, who finished first and second in total votes received with 180 and 174 respectively.

“We figured we needed a change and I put my name forward,” Bencharsky said.

“I guess the people wanted a change and that’s what they did.”

“I’m happy that I can be a part of this,” Hall said. “I’m happy with the people, I went door to door and they voted for me.

“I’m glad that people realized what was going on in the community.”

Elected incumbents include Mike Antal with 153 votes, Sam Assaf with 140 and Don Radmanovich with 134.

“Hopefully the whole council can continue working as a team for the good of the whole village,” Radmanovich said.

Clark fell just two votes short of a seat with 132 votes, while Giancola finished with 96.

“It’s a bit of a surprise,” Clark said. “I thought I did a good job for 15 years, but things change and you have to move on.

“I’d like to just wish everybody luck and hopefully everything works out,” Clark said, though he expressed some doubts that it would.

“One of candidate’s campaigns (Bencharsky’s) was focused on the negativity from the past, so I don’t know how that’s going to work out,” Clark observed.
