BOYLE – A man and a woman from Athabasca were both arrested and charged with multiple crimes March 25 after RCMP executed a warrant on a residence in Boyle.

According to an RCMP press release, Boyle RCMP entered the residence with a Feeney warrant to arrest a man on outstanding charges. A Feeney warrant gives police the power to enter a residence to arrest an individual.

Thirty-year-old Luc Roy of Athabasca was taken into custody without incident, but during the arrest RCMP noticed a snowboard that had previously been reported stolen. Police then secured the property and executed a search warrant.

While there, police located more stolen property from several break-ins in and around the Village of Boyle dating back to November, including the Senior’s Centre and Boyle School. Police then also arrested 22-year-old Talia Favel in connection to the thefts.

“This is a great feeling of being able to recover and return personal belongings back to its rightful owners, and the tools back to our local school.”, said Cst. Andrew Deme of the Boyle RCMP. “We strive as a detachment to ensure the residents of not only our village, but our surrounding community, that when issues are addressed in regards to crime, that we listen and take action.”

Roy and Favel were both charged with 10 counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of break and enter and mischief under $5,000.

Roy was remanded into custody and appeared in provincial court March 30 in Edmonton. Favel is scheduled to appear in Boyle Provincial Court June 23.
