ATHABASCA – Although the numbers were a little lower than past years, 16 women’s teams competed for supremacy at the annual Athabasca Curling Club Ladies Bonspiel March 10-12, with the local foursome led by skip Mabel Dick taking the ‘A’ title over Team Jewell.

Club secretary Darlene Day said while they “normally get around 20 or 24” teams for the three-day event at the Athabasca Regional Multiplex, it was still a good weekend.

Team Burton, which counted women from Spruce Grove and Athabasca, won the ‘B’ over Team Anderson from Boyle, while the ‘C’ went to Team Topola, also from Athabasca, who triumphed over Team Ulliac from Plamondon.

This past weekend, March 17-19, the club played hosted to the men’s bonspiel and results will be available in next week’s edition.
