BOYLE — Village of Boyle councillors have one final regular gathering in council chambers before Christmas holidays officially begin, and the Dec. 18 meeting is set to be a busy one.
The meeting will kick off with a presentation on a funding program aimed at helping municipalities reduce energy consumption and costs. One Peter Hart will be pitching the SmartSence program to councillors, described as a fully-funded opportunity to reduce energy consumption by between three and 15 per cent each year.
Following Hart, councillors will hear a year-end update from the Boyle Public Library, complete with details on programming offered throughout the year, resource usage, and a look at the books before the New Year.
The biggest item on the agenda this week is the interim operating budget. Councillors must pass a temporary operating budget for the upcoming year before 2025 arrives, and the recommended motion from administration is that councillors pass 50 per cent of the operating budget until the full fiscal plan is complete.
Councillors will also have the option of rescheduling the next council meeting, currently slated for Jan. 1, 2025. If cancelled, the meeting will be set to run Jan. 15.
Village of Boyle council meetings are held at the Boyle Municipal Centre at 7p.m., and an agenda for the Dec. 18 meeting can be found here.
