BOYLE — Village of Boyle councillors will have a wide range of items to review during their upcoming June 5 meeting, including proposed changes to items accepted at local transfer sites, Boyle School’s Class of 2024 graduation parade route, the results of a provincial municipal accountability review of the village, and more.
First on the agenda is a presentation from Athabasca County Family and Community Support Services (FCSS). FCSS manager Debbie Wood will provide councillors with details from the organization’s 2023 Annual Report, and updates on programming such as the Family School Liasion Program, the Athabasca Family Centre, and the Athabasca Mentorship Program.
Later in the meeting, councillors will review a letter from the Athabasca Regional Waste Commission detailing suggested scenarios for changes to accepted items at transfer sites around the county. The proposed changes were approved by the Waste Commission’s Board of Directors on April 25 and were distributed to local municipalities for feedback.

Also up for councillor consideration is approval of the 2024 graduation parade route to take place on Friday, June 14. The request for the green light came in a letter from Boyle Grad 2024 president Rose Bechthold, who noted the planning committee intends to use the same route as in recent years.
Boyle councillors will get their chance to review results from the 2023-2024 Municipal Accountability Program and provide feedback on the provincial government’s assessment of the village’s compliance with the Municipal Governance Act (MGA).
Municipalities with a population of less than 2,500 individuals are subject to a Municipal Accountability Review every five years. The 72-page review looks at compliance in assessment and taxation practices, meetings and procedures, planning and development regulations, and more.
