The Town of Athabasca's chief administrative officer Doug Topinka is retiring in less than two weeks. "He is retiring as of July 6," councillor Tim Verhaeghe said Friday.

"He is retiring as of July 6," councillor Tim Verhaeghe said Friday.
Topinka said he will participate in the municipal corporate review that the Town is currently seeking.
He will also offer his services on a contract basis if needed until a replacement is found.
"I'd like to thank the current and past councils for their cooperation. Over the past 10 years the town has achieved a lot," he said.
"I could have retired 6 years ago, but decided I wanted to keep at. Now seemed like a good time.
"I am looking forward to relaxing at the lake."
