Volunteers needed to move donations

A call for volunteers has been issued by government officials to help move the vast amount of donations that have flooded into the Athabasca Regional Multiplex during the Slave Lake wildfire tragedy.

A call for volunteers has been issued by government officials to help move the vast amount of donations that have flooded into the Athabasca Regional Multiplex during the Slave Lake wildfire tragedy.

“There are truck loads and truck loads (of donations),” said Government of Alberta spokesperson Robyn Cochrane, who was astounded by the outpouring of generosity during the crisis.

Items are to be moved from the multiplex and loaded into trailers. When those items will be transported to another location is still up in the air, but Cochrane iterated the importance of having everything ready when it’s time to ship the supply to Slave Lake.

Packing will begin on Thursday at 9 a.m. Volunteers will be asked to work in three-hour shifts until the effort is complete.

Anyone wishing to lend a hand can contact the multiplex at 780-675-2967 or show up in person on Thursday.
