On Aug. 6 the barricades went up on 49 Street, one of the main roadways through the town of Barrhead, in front of the Dairy Queen diverting traffic into one lane.
By Aug. 8, there is two-way traffic through the construction occurring, with one lane dedicated to each direction of traffic.
“On behalf of the town, we would like the travelling public as well as the affected businesses for their patience and understanding,” Ed LeBlanc, CAO for the Town of Barrhead.
The project started close to the mall and is expected to finish in early September.
The construction is part of the 49A Street project that has had much of 49A Street ripped apart for months.
The scope of the project includes new utilities, new sidewalks, curb and gutters and new payment according to LeBlanc.
Please be aware of the workers that are close to open lanes where drivers are moving past them.
Slow speed signs and do not pass signs are posted.
