There is oil money in the pool.
Pembina Pipeline, a transportation, midstream and gas service provider that is headquartered in Calgary, recently signed off on an agreement to contribute $30,000 over a three-year period.
Shannon Carlson, the Agrena Society’s president, said the company’s commitment is fantastic news.
“Combined with the money we’ve already raised, this puts us at a total of $650,000,” he said, adding the biggest donation for the pool is $100,000, from the Elks Club.
“That was over a month ago, but it is still a huge deal for us and now with Pembina Pipeline signing on to contribute as well, it is fantastic.”
Carlson said the Agrena Society is examining other avenues of fundraising, but no decision has been made.
“We are focusing on our donor program at the moment, going to local businesses and seeing if they are able to contribute in some shape or form,” he said, adding there are different levels of sponsorship, such as naming rights and the cash calendars, which are still available for purchase, continue to be a great fundraising platform.
“There are all kinds of different ways that people can donate and we are happy to work with any company that has an idea for fundraising towards the aquatic centre,” Carlson said, adding he was extremely pleased that Clarke Builders is on-site and work has officially started.
“There are a lot of people who don’t have a pool, who don’t want to make the drive to a nearby community, and for them, it is a good sign that things are starting to come together,” he said.
