The Barrhead Centennial Museum is hosting a fairly low-key Children’s Day on Wednesday, July 24, offering some non-digital toys for children to play with and perhaps letting children draw on their new sidewalk if the weather is good.
Museum curator Alcina Scratch said a group of Barrhead daycare children will be visiting the museum at around 10 a.m.
They have cleared out a back room and will have some simple toys — wooden trucks, blocks, cup and ball-type games — set up for children to play with.
And, as noted earlier, they might have some chalk drawing on the sidewalk at the side of the building if the weather co-operates.
Of course, Barrhead parents are free to drop in on the museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“It’s just kind of a relaxed day. There’s no particular time that anyone needs to show up,” she said.
Scratch noted this has been a fairly busy year for the museum with more activities than the previous year, so they’re a bit stressed for time.
She noted they hope to have some displays of rodeo photographs up for the 2019 Blue Heron Fair on the Aug. 9-11 weekend.
