BARRHEAD - The Barrhead RCMP are looking for the public's help to apprehend a person who stole a large battery from Everyday Values.

On June 16, shortly after 3 p.m., a suspect stole a vehicle-sized battery used to power an industrial floor cleaner from the alley behind the store.

Const. Nathan Ching said the store's owner had just moved the battery so that he could load it into his vehicle.

The RCMP searched for the suspect but did not find them. However, Ching said that police did find the battery in a nearby empty lot a short time later.

"I guess it was too heavy, for him to run away with it, but even though it was still found, it is a theft," he said, noting that the store's security camera captured the incident.

If you have information about the suspect's identity or any other information about the incident, contact the Barrhead RCMP at 780-674-4848 during detachment hours 8 a.m to 4:30 p.m. or after hours at 780-674-2696. For those wishing to remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
