BARRHEAD – There was a power outage that affected residents in the south part of Barrhead during the evening of Aug. 7.
A loud pop could be heard prior to the power going out.
“There can sometimes be a loud popping sound associated with a fuse faulting. When the fuse faults the power goes down,” explained Peter Brodski, Manager of Public Affairs for Fortis.
“Similar to when a breaker in your house pops.”
Fortis was alerted to the outage at 8:48 p.m.
There were a total of 86 residents that were affected during the Barrhead outage, according to Brodski.
The technicians investigated and reset a fuse.
The power was restored shortly after 10 p.m., with the outage lasting for one hour and 23 minutes.
The cause is unknown, according to Fortis.
