The 2016 Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS) graduating class left an indelible impression on the school and they will do so once again as they move on to the next stage of their lives.

That is what Steven Kaplan, BCHS principal told the 130 high school graduates during the graduation ceremony on Thursday, June 30 at the Barrhead Agrena.

“The grad theme, ‘And there they went to change the world,” is very appropriate to this class and reminds me of a couple important things,” he said.

The first Kaplan said is that the graduates should take time to celebrate this moment.

“You are here because you achieved something that not all high school students will do and that is earn a high school diploma. You’ve been able to do this by believing in yourself and having a good work ethic,” he said, adding it wasn’t easy and they had to overcome many challenges and obstacles over their school careers.

Kaplan said the graduating class is capable of great things and challenged them to go out and do what their graduating theme is, and go change the world.

“Our greatest hope and wish for you is that you will take that opportunity and cast that stone (of change) and go out and make the world a better place,” he said. “It is a daunting duty. Start by making your community a better place. Be the change you want to see in the world.”
