Swan Hills Wild Fire Emergency alert to get prepared for possible evacuation on May 25.

An Alberta Emergency Alert was sent out for a wildfire burning eight kilometres north of Swan Hills on May 25.

On the Alberta Wildfire website ARCGIS map it shows another out-of-control wildfire burning south west of Swan Hills on May 26.

"Everyone in the affected area should prepare for a possible evacuation," said the Town of Swan Hills on their website.

"Gather pets, important documents, medications, enough food, water and supplies for at least three days."

The website cautioned residents to ensure they have enough fuel in their vehicles in preparation of evacuation.

The Barrhead Agriculture Society has advised that they have room to park holiday trailers, have pens for livestock, and are available for assistance.

The alert was issued the evening of May 25. No evacuation has been issued at this time.

There is concern that the winds will change direction and could force an evacuation.
