Gryphons volleyball action

BARRHEAD - The Senior Gryphons hosted 12 team volleyball tournament on Oct. 20 and 21 at Barrhead Composite High School (BCHS). Unfortunately for the home teams, they finished outside the medal rounds.
 
On the boys' side, the Gryphons finished second in their pool on  Oct. 20 with a 1-1 record, winning against Whitecourt's Hilltop High School and losing to St. Albert's Catholic High School (SACHS).
 
The next day, the BCHS boys won a close matchup in three sets against Edmonton's Louis St. Laurent Catholic High School before losing to a squad from Sturgeon Composite High School.
 
On the girls' side, BCHS finished third in their pool on the tournament's opening day, losing both their matchups against Hilltop High School and SACHS.
 
The next day, BCHS the Gryphons defeated Morinville Community High School and Beaverlodge Regional High School in the first two games of the consolation playoff round before losing to Drayton Valley's Frank Maddock High School.
