BARRHEAD - An employee at Hillcrest Lodge in Barrhead has been tested positive for COVID-19, though not while they were working at the supportive living facility.
According to a news release from the Barrhead & District Social Housing Association (BDSHA), the employee received a positive test result on Oct. 21.
However, the employee had not worked since Oct. 16 and was not displaying any symptoms.
The release states that, in consultation with the province, Hillcrest Lodge has been placed under restricted visitation until further notice and there will be no scheduled outside visitations.
Contract tracing is underway and the province will determine if all residents and remaining staff must be tested or placed in isolation.
Until that is done, there will be limited movement between the supportive living facilities in the area and outside movement will be limited to essential trips only.
Any residents who are displaying symptoms of COVID-19 must be isolated regardless of whether they are awaiting test results.
“We are committed to doing everything in our power to protect our residents and staff,” the release states. “We will post more information as it becomes available.”
Town & Country Today reached out to the BDSHA on Oct. 23 to determine if there were any further updates to the situation but did not receive a response.
As of Friday afternoon, the provincial map that lists all active COVID-19 cases within Alberta states that the County of Barrhead has six active cases and eight recovered cases.
