A surge of shoppers descended on the Neerlandia Co-op replica building located on the west side of the Neerlandia Co-op parking lot for the Buttercream and Blooms event.
“When we first opened, There was an s-shaped line out the door. People came early,” said Robyn Peters, owner of Robyn’s Bake House, which specializes in cupcakes.
The pop-up market was held July 24 and opened at 2 pm.
Shoppers were anxious to see what was being offered.
Leanne Vanlaar, a shopper who arrived an hour after opening with her children said, “Looks like you guys are almost sold out.”
Ivonne Santos, owner of Santos Kitchen, had a delivery of more stock to fill her displays.
The churro cheesecake and Mexican churros were flying off the shelves.
Amanda Kellner, owner of Prairie Garden Floral Studio had many of her flower choices picked over and emptied within the first hour.
Jamie-Lynn Vanleeuwen, owner of JV Sweets with gluten-free micro-baking, was also low on stock.
The weather and the smoke did not deter community residents from making the trip over to investigate the unique products on display.
The market was held in the Neerlandia Co-op replica of the original Neerlandia store built in 1922.
