A lot of parents and sibling will find something a little special under the tree thanks to Santa’s Workshop.

On Saturday, Dec. 3 hundreds of children, converged on Barrhead Elementary School’s gym to do their Christmas shopping, do some crafts and visit with Santa.

The annual event, which has been going on for about five years, sponsored by Pembina West Co-op, gives children the opportunity to shop for the special adults in their lives without having to break the bank.

All the gifts range from $1 to $15 and are provided at cost by the Co-op.

To help keep what the children bought a secret until Christmas Day they were escorted by volunteer elves, without parents, through the workshop. Before returning to the main gym the children’s purchases were wrapped by another group of volunteer elves.
