It looks like there will be an election after all — at least for voters in the Town of Barrhead and the County of Barrhead's Division 4.

As the nomination deadline passed at noon on Sept. 18, seven residents submitted their paperwork to run for town councillor, they are: Ty Assaf, Dausen Kluin, Rod Klumph, Shelley Oswald, Leslie Penny, Gregory R. Semenchuck and Don Smith.

For mayor Dave McKenzie and Mark Vriend let their name stand.

On the county side, the only election will be in Division 4, which pits, incumbent councillor Bill Lane against Ronald Barton. In by acclimation are Doug Drozd, Division 1, Marvin Schatz, Division 2, Ron Kleinfeldt, Division 3, Darrell Troock, Division 5, Walter Preugschas, Division 6 and Dennis Nanninga, Division 7.

As for Pembina Hills Public Schools trustees all of the Barrhead area trustees are in by acclimation. For Barrhead north it is Jennifer Tuininga, Barrhead town, Judy Lefebvre and for Barrhead south's trustee will be former Barrhead Composite High School principal Kerry McElroy.

In Swan Hills Nancy Keough was acclaimed replacing retiring trustee Sheri Watson. Westlock north incumbent trusee Jackie Comeau is also in by acclimation.

In Westlock south Jackie Carson and Ken Mead will contest the seat being vacated by retiring trustee Annette Bokenfor. Residents in the Westlock town ward will also see a new face as Wendy Scinski and Douglas Pearson compete for the seat being vacated by Jan Hoffart.

These names are unofficial as potential mayor, councillor and trustee candidates have 24 hours to withdraw their intentions.
