Due to press deadlines, our Oct. 17 issue of the Barrhead Leader will not include the election results.

However, our editorial team will post them at www.barrheadleader.com as soon as we receive them.

In the Town of Barrhead, there will be two races. Running for mayor are Dave McKenzie and Mark Vriend. For councillor, seven candidates, Ty Assaf, Dausen Kluin, Rod Klumph, Shelley Oswald, Leslie Penny, Gregory R. Semenchuck and Don Smith will battle it out for the six available seats.

On the county side, the only election will be in Division 4, which pits incumbent councillor Bill Lane against Ronald Barton. In by acclamation are Doug Drozd, Division 1, Marvin Schatz, Division 2, Ron Kleinfeldt, Division 3, Darrell Troock, Division 5, Walter Preugschas, Division 6 and Dennis Nanninga, Division 7.

In the Barrhead Leader’s coverage area in Woodlands County, Fort Assiniboine incumbent Dale Kluin will face challengers Terry O’Brien and Jason Price.

In Goose Lake/Freeman River incumbent Coun. Dale McQueen will be joined by Peter Kuelken on the ballot. While in Blue Ridge, incumbent Daniel Pritchard will be challenged by Irene Sawyer, a current Living Waters Catholic Schools trustee, and Bruce Prestidge.

As for Pembina Hills Public Schools trustees, all of the Barrhead-area trustees, are in by acclamation. For Barrhead north it is Jennifer Tuininga, Barrhead town, Judy Lefebvre, and for Barrhead south’s trustee will be former Barrhead Composite High School principal Kerry McElroy.
