The Airdrie-Cochrane NDP revealed at their AGM meeting on Feb. 7, that they would ultimately be moving funds from the Bow Valley Credit Union (BVCU) after allegations made against CEO Brett Oland and his involvement with Take Back Alberta.

The topic was brought forward during the meeting and sought to move all Airdrie-Cochrane provincial constituency accounts from the Cochrane BVCU to Cochrane Servus Credit Union. BVCU has seven branches with locations in Cochrane, Banff, and Calgary.

It was discussed that Oland was involved in a campaign by Take Back Alberta to have the Mayor of Cochrane and all elected officials rescinded from office.

One member also revealed that after a phone interview with Oland, that the credit union sponsored the event between former Fox News commentator, Tucker Carlson, in Calgary last month. It included a speech, followed by a discussion with Danielle Smith and Jordan Peterson. The event was also promoted by Take Back Alberta.

Both Oland and Bow Valley Credit Union were also vocal on matters of privacy and the federal government’s use of the Emergencies Act during the Freedom Convoy protests during the pandemic.

The Eagle attempted to reach out to Oland and a representative from BVCU for comment, but was unable to receive a comment at the time of publication.
