Airdrie RCMP lay charges in road rage incident

Driver allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation before pointing a firearm at the vehicle.

RCMP located a vehicle that matched the silver sedan car's description in Meadowbrook on Aug. 1.

Airdrie RCMP has laid charges after responding to reports of an erratic driver on Highway II at Yankee Valley Boulevard on Aug. 1 at 8:45 p.m. 

A silver sedan was reportedly speeding while travelling southbound on Highway II, according to an Airdrie RCMP press release. The driver of the sedan allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation with another driver heading south, before pointing a firearm at the vehicle. 

RCMP located a vehicle that matched the silver sedan car's description in Meadowbrook on Aug. 1. Officers took an Airdrie resident into custody and searched the vehicle, where they found an airsoft gun. 

Shawn David Desharnais, 42, was taken before a Justice of the Peace and released on a no cash recognizance to appear in Airdrie court on Aug. 25. Desharnais has been charged with pointing a firearm, possession of a firearm in a vehicle, and careless use of a fireman.
