BOWDEN — A Bowden man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with a sudden death that occurred in the town the evening of March 22.
A 25-year-old Bowden woman was found deceased in an apartment unit in Bowden that night.
Ross Arran McInnes, 27, of Bowden was arrested at the scene at that time.
“An autopsy has been completed and the manner of death has been deemed a homicide,” an RCMP news release issued today (March 26) says. “The victim and accused were known to each other."
McInnes was remanded into custody after a judicial hearing. His next court appearance is March 29 in Didsbury provincial court.
The name of the deceased is not being released.
“RCMP requests on behalf of the family of the victim to afford them privacy during this difficult time,” the release says.
Police say no further information on the case will be released as it is now before the court.
RCMP were called to an apartment in the town at 6:33 p.m. on March 22 after ambulance personnel asked for their assistance.
“A deceased female was located at the scene. The RCMP forensic identification section were called in to assist with the investigation along with the RCMP major crimes unit (MCU),” said a news release issued by Cpl. Tammy Keibel, media relations officer for the RCMP's southern Alberta district.
“There is no threat to the public,” the release added.
The MCU has taken over the investigation.
That night, the street in the area of the old Lions Hall was blocked off and several emergency vehicles could be seen in the area.
