On March 6, RCMP were called out to a fatal collision between two semi-trucks east of Olds at the intersection of highways 27 and 791.

The call came in at 11:55 p.m.

When emergency crews got there, it was determined that the driver and lone occupant of one of the semi-trucks, a 50-year-old Red Deer man, had died.

The driver of the other semi was treated on-scene by ambulance personnel and released.

Traffic was redirected for several hours while emergency crews cleared the scene.

“Initial investigation indicates that the deceased’s semi was travelling southbound on Highway 791 when it failed to stop at the intersection with Highway 27 and was struck by a westbound semi,” an RCMP news release says.

“Alberta RCMP wish to extend our condolences to the loved ones of the deceased.”
