The theft of a trailer RV from a local dealership and two unrelated instances of assault that led to charges being laid were among the 40 files logged by the Sundre RCMP between Feb. 5-11.

Sgt. Trent Sperlie, the detachment’s commander, told the Albertan that the trailer, valued at about $120,000, was stolen from Country Road RV either late on the night of Feb.6 or during the early morning hours of Feb. 7, with the theft subsequently reported mid-morning.

The trailer is described as a 2023 Forest River Rockwood 8337RL that is white with a grey front and grey striping. There as of the time he spoke with the Albertan were no suspects.

“The RCMP is asking the public to check any security video they have that may have captured the crime in progress,” he said.

Concerning the two unrelated assaults, one of which involved the use of a broom as a weapon, the sergeant could not provide many details due to the nature of the circumstances.

“One is a domestic related one, so we wouldn’t divulge that information,” he said.

But a suspect was charged as a result of the assault, he said.

Another suspect in an unrelated incident was charged over an assault with a weapon that reportedly was a broom, he said, adding that was a family fight involving two brothers.

“I can’t divulge that either because the victim is a minor,” he said when asked who had been charged.

Throughout the span of the week, local Mounties also responded to:

• two suspicious vehicle calls in which nothing suspicious ended up being found in either;

• one person reported missing who was later located doing well;

• one speeding ticket issued;

• one complaint of an erratic driver around the school in Sundre with the driver being contacted although no charges were laid as there wasn’t enough evidence;

• one complaint of vehicles “drifting” in the Sundre Arena parking lot, but both vehicles were gone by the time a member arrived;

• one request to remove an intoxicated person who was already gone upon police arriving at the scene;

• one mischief and assault that remained under investigation;

• one harassment complaint later deemed unfounded;

• one complaint of gunshots investigated by a member who attended the scene and determined the shooting was on Crown land with no evidence of an offence being committed;

• one assist EMS; and

• three welfare checks in which everyone was found to be well.

Residents with any information about the stolen RV or other incidents are encouraged to contact the Sundre RCMP’s complaint line at 403-638-3655.
