Aspen View reports COVID at the CAVE

Two students and one staff member noted as close contacts and directed to stay home

ATHABASCA - Aspen View Public Schools is reporting a single positive case of COVID-19 in an individual from the Centre for Alternative & Virtual Education, also known as the CAVE.

A Jan. 17 media release from the school division said two students and one staff member were found to be close contacts and were directed to stay home.

Specific details, as always, were not publicly disclosed to preserve the privacy of the individuals involved.

“Aspen View and administration at the CAVE are diligently following Alberta Health Services guidance to ensure the necessary steps are taken to protect the health and safety of students and staff,” said Supt. Neil O’Shea.

With students returning to school after a prolonged Christmas break just last week, Aspen View encourages parents, guardians and staff members to be aware of symptoms and monitor for them every day by completing the checklist from Alberta Health Services prior to attending school.

If any of those core symptoms are observed, it is advised the child be kept home, and to fill out the AHS COVID self-assessment form or call Health Link at 811.
