Jasper National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site in Alberta, is a dream destination for nature lovers and anybody who loves to camp. Let’s look at some of the top spots to pitch a tent or bring your RV.

Wapiti Campground

Due to its proximity to Jasper, Wapiti Campground is a favourite among families and first-time campers. This lakeside spot offers modern amenities alongside stunning views of the Athabasca River. With over 350 sites available, Wapiti caters to both tent campers and RV enthusiasts. Note that it is currently operating at limited capacity due to wildfire damage. This is one of the best campgrounds in Jasper and fills up quickly, especially during peak summer months.

Whistlers Campground

Whistlers Campground, recently renovated, is the largest and most popular campsite in Jasper National Park. With over 700 sites, it welcomes adventurers of all kinds, including families, hikers, and RVers. Elk sightings are common as these majestic creatures often roam close to the campground. It’s also an ideal base for exploring Jasper’s iconic sites such as the SkyTram, Maligne Canyon, and Pyramid Lake.

Snaring Campground

For those seeking a quieter, wilder camping experience, Snaring Campground is the perfect escape. Nestled further from Jasper’s bustling centre, it provides a truly rustic and serene atmosphere. This one offers basic amenities like water pumps and pit toilets, giving you a back-to-basics experience. Because of its more remote location, this campground favours campers looking to disconnect completely while soaking in the tranquil beauty of the area.

Honeymoon Lake Campground

Cradled by the Rockies, Honeymoon Lake Campground offers pristine lakeside camping with unmatched scenery. This medium-sized campground is perfect for couples or individuals seeking solitude and scenic views. The lake views and calm waters make it ideal for kayaking and canoeing. It offers unserviced campsites, making it a favourite for those who love traditional camping experiences. It is also an excellent stargazing location, thanks to minimal light pollution.
