Toronto's theatre district is set to get a lot more colourful this winter.

Mirvish announced Wednesday that the revival of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" will make its North American premiere at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

The production is headed across the pond from London's West End.

This version of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's biblical musical stars stage veteran Linzi Hateley as the narrator and newcomer Jac Yarrow in the titular role.

The engagement is scheduled for Dec. 11 to Jan. 22. Tickets go on sale Monday.

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" was one of the musical sensations of the early 1990s with Donny Osmond first donning the dreamcoat during an extended run at Toronto's Elgin Theatre.

This report by The Canadian Press was first published Sept. 21, 2022.
