COVID recoveries
All three confirmed COVID-19 cases in Barrhead and Westlock have recovered, according to the provincial government's geospatial tool for tracking cases.

All confirmed COVID-19 cases in Westlock and Barrhead have now recovered.

According to the Alberta government, the two people who contracted the virus in Barrhead as well as the single confirmed case in Westlock are no longer sick as of April 7.

Athabasca remains case-free.

Overall, the province has 1,373 confirmed cases, with 25 confirmed today. Ninety of them are in the North Zone.

“While there are only 25 new reported cases, it is important to not place too much emphasis or predict trends on any given day’s figures. … Despite aggressive measures, cases are expected to continue to rise,” according to a press release from the Alberta government.

Premier Jason Kenney also announced in a televised press address this evening that modeled predictions for the COVID-19 pandemic in the province show anywhere between 400 and 6,600 deaths.

Public health orders that restrict non-essential businesses will likely be in place until the end of April, and social distancing will likely continue until the end of May.

The Barrhead cases were confirmed March 21, and Westlock March 25.

The information was obtained via the provincial government's geospatial display of coronavirus cases in Alberta. The tool was recently updated to display hospitalization, recovery and death information for each affected area.

At the time of their confirmation, Alberta Health Services did not release any information about the people who contracted the virus. Westlock News was able to confirm with Homeland Housing that no cases were registered at any seniors facilities here.
