BOYLE - A Boyle man remains in custody awaiting a court date, following an incident late Tuesday afternoon that saw local RCMP call for the assistance of both police dog services and the RCMP Emergency Response Team.
An RCMP media release received April 28 explained Boyle RCMP received a complaint of an assault and opened an investigation.
"Upon arrival, the suspect barricaded the residence, and threatened the officers on scene with an edged weapon," the release stated. "The suspect eventually exited the residence and upon picking up a knife, was safely subdued by officers without injury."
Darren Bancroft, 54, is charged with two counts of assaulting a police officer, two counts of uttering threats, one count each of assault with a weapon, assault by choking, mischief under $5,000 and mischief over $5,000. He also faces three charges of fail to comply with release conditions.
