An additional active case of COVID-19 was reported on the Government of Alberta's geospatial map Oct. 22 — bringing the number of active cases to two and the total case number to 14.

ATHABASCA - With the one more active case of COVID-19 reported in Athabasca County Oct. 22, each of the three counties in the Town & Country region have now seen 14 cases.

After a week-long respite from new cases, the Government of Alberta's geospatial map listed an additional active case within the borders of Athabasca County Thursday. As Athabasca cases stagnated for a few days though, cases in Westlock County and County of Barrhead worked their way up.

Athabasca County now has two active cases, while Westlock County reports seven, as does the County of Barrhead. Exact locations of those affected are not available, but the Boyle portion of the geospatial map in the southeast corner of the county remains clear. Aspen View Public Schools is also clear, but active cases at schools in Westlock and Barrhead were reported earlier this week.

The next report from chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw is expected Friday afternoon, but this week, according to government numbers up to Oct. 21, there are now 3,519 active cases in the province — 1,718 of those are in the Edmonton region. In the last 24 hours, 427 new active cases were reported. Eighteen people are in intensive care as a result of the virus and there are currently 112 hospitalizations in all. The death toll remains at 296, but none of those are from the Town & Country region.

Besides the current active cases in each county, all those who previously tested positive are noted as recovered.
