Alberta Health Services declared a COVID-19 outbreak at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre.

WESTLOCK — An outbreak has been declared at the Westlock Continuing Care Centre after four residents and one employee tested positive for COVID-19.

According to Alberta Health Services, who confirmed the positive cases via e-mail earlier today, the outbreak is being investigated by the medical officer of health, infection prevention and control specialists, site leadership and AHS workplace health and safety.

“We have implemented outbreak precautions including strict infection prevention and control measures, isolating any residents who have tested positive or are suspected to have COVID-19, and restricting visitors to the site,” AHS wrote.

No more details are available yet regarding the types of measures in place or the source of the outbreak.
